Bosz won’t rush Gotze return

Borussia Dortmund head coach Peter Bosz claims he will ease Mario Gotze back to fitness after a five-month injury lay-off.

The 25-year-old World Cup winning playmaker was diagnosed with myopathy earlier this year which was the cause of severe fatigue and weight gain – which limited his impact upon his homecoming season with Dortmund.

Nonetheless, Bosz admitted as a football fan, everyone will be elated with the return of Gotze to the football field and promised to hand the Germany international minutes on the pitch on Tuesday during their last few days in Switzerland – to assess his fitness levels.

"As a football aficionado, it is really great fun to see him at work," he told reporters.

"Mario is a very good player, but we need to be careful with him: if you have been absent for five months, it is not possible to make up for that within five weeks.

"There might be a setback, but up to now things are going really well for him, and we've agreed that he will win more minutes against Atalanta Bergamo on Tuesday."
