Mitroglou hails Ligue 1

Greece international forward Konstantinos 'Kostas' Mitroglou feels Ligue 1 is one of the best leagues in the world – following his shock move to Marseille.

Mitroglou joined the French side on transfer deadline day for €15 million after leading Benfica to consecutive league titles and was swiftly replaced – as Águias roped in Gabigol from Internazionale.

And after plying his trade in Portugal, Germany, and England, the towering forward was frank in his assessment of the French top-flight.

"In France, I will play in an important championship," he told reporters. "The French League is one of the best in Europe, with very good players. I can't wait to play my first game."

The 29-year-old scored 52 goals in 88 games over the past two seasons under manager Rui Vitória.
