Watford have announced that new signing Nathaniel Chalobah will undergo surgery on the knee injury he sustained in training last week.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who joined the Hornets on a long-term deal from Chelsea during the recent transfer window, had started the first five games of the new Premier League season.
But the injury ruled him out of the 2-1 win at Swansea on Saturday, and the Hertfordshire club have since confirmed that Chalobah is set to go under the knife.
Watford performance director Gavin Benjafield revealed, however, that the Blues youth product should be back in action before the end of the year.
"Whilst we can't put an exact timeline on his recovery, we are expecting to see him re-integrating into the squad well before the New Year," Benjafield told the club's official website.
