Marseille make Amavi deal permanent

“Let’s get out of here quickly” – Wilder jokes after Sheffield Utd 2-0 win at Everton

Marseille have acted swiftly by securing left-back Jordan Amavi on a permanent deal from English Championship side Aston Villa.

Having made a temporary switch to the Stade Velodrome, the former Nice defender has thrived on his return to Ligue 1 and earned a call-up to the France national team after just five games.

Dubbed a Les Blues star of the future when he joined the Villains in 2015 for £9 million, the 23-year-old endured a horror spell after suffering an ACL tear in his right knee which ruled him out for the season.

However, the France youth international was the subject of a £25 million bid from an unnamed Chinese Super League club after he racked up 36 appearances for Villa in the second tier last term following their relegation from the Premier League.

Amavi has rekindled his reputation as a future international regular under the tutelage of L'OM manager Rudi Garcia in the new campaign.
