Ward-Prowse: Chance for Saints to find form now

Xavi, Al Sadd head coach expects a tough game with Al Nassr

Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse believes they have a great opportunity to build momentum when Newcastle visit St Mary's on Sunday.

Mauricio Pellegrino's side have made an underwhelming start to the season and occupy 12th position in the Premier League standings after seven games.

The Saints lost three of their last four games before the international break, but Ward-Prowse feels they now have a chance to turn things around with some positive results.

"It's still early on in the season and we have to keep taking the positives from the games we have played and try and work on that to help us in the long run," he told the club's official website.

"It feels like a different type of season. Last year was very difficult because of the Europa League situation and a great cup run.

"This season we have a new manager, a new style of play and a few new signings as well which have had a positive impact on the team.

"It's a building process still for us all, but it's a positive one in the making. After this two weeks, it's a great chance for us to hit the ground running and take the league by storm now."
