Craig Shakespeare has confirmed that Leicester City will consider looking at the option of signing free-agent Bacary Sagna.
The 34-year-old French international right-back was released by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola at the completion of his contract in June 2017.
He played 24 times last season but was discarded alongside fellow defender Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov.
Sagna has been without a club since, despite being fit and injury free and was initially linked with Brighton and Crystal Palace upon his City exit.
On the 65 capped French defender, Shakespeare, who had considered the player before, said: "We have looked at him before but we haven’t spoken about him recently.
"We are aware of the situation. We will look at it and review.
"We are not sure of his situation so we would need to follow that up.
"We have good defensive cover at the moment and players who can cover in different positions but you always have to make sure that you are aware where the cover might come from if you have one or two injuries."
