Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton has made it clear that his team need to remain focused and avoid over-confidence after their strong start to the season.
The Seagulls have achieved some unexpected results in the Premier League thus far, beating West Brom, Newcastle United, and West Ham United, while holding Everton and Southampton to 1-1 draws. However, Hughton remains wary of complacency creeping into his team.
Hughton told the Argus: “I’m very conscious of making sure that everybody around here is very level-headed about what we’ve done.
“At this moment we haven’t done anything and the points difference between us and third-bottom is only four. That can change in a two-game period, but I have to be pleased as a newly promoted side to be where we are after ten games.”
When asked about his view regarding underperforming clubs, Hughton added: “I’m not surprised that there are clubs that are expected to be in a higher position that are not, because of the stage of the season.
“If it was the end of the season then yes, I’d be very surprised.
“Some start better than others. Those clubs are all capable of putting good runs together.
“We’ve got good players also and if we play at a level we’ve got a chance of getting results."
