Fan lands Toffees in hot water

Copa America 2019: Suarez, Cavani on target in Uruguay win

Everton have been fined by UEFA for an incident involving their fans in the Europa League clash with Lyon at Goodison Park last month.

Toffees defender Ashley Williams sparked aggressive scenes when he barged Les Gones keeper Anthony Lopes out of play on the byline in the second half.

Players from both teams became entangled in a brawl right in front of the home supporters at the Howard Kendall Gwladys Street End, where one of them grabbed Lopes by the head.

The fan had been identified by the Merseysiders, who issued him with a stadium ban as a result of his actions.

European football's governing body charged the Premier League club with "aggressions by supporters against players" and fined them €30,000 (£26,650).
