The Cherries were the better side early on, passing the ball around mellifluously, but for the most part the match was scrappy, with neither side capable of creating any clear-cut goalscoring opportunities.
Around the half-hour mark there were a couple of chances for the Swans, but Martin Olsson was unable to control Carroll’s pass, before Renato Sanches hit the side netting when he probably should have fired it across goal.
Joshua King should have put the Cherries ahead just before the halftime break when Marc Pugh fed it through for him, but his low effort was straight at Lukasz Fabianski.
The first half ended with Swansea feeling they were denied a legitimate goal after Wilfried Bony had put the ball in the net, only for the ref to pull it back for an earlier foul by Andre Ayew on Nathan Ake.
The second half saw Swansea in the ascendency, hogging the possession while Bony and Ayew caused problems up front, but their play lacked a cutting edge.
As the match the 70-minute mark the temperature of the match increased, with both sides flying end-to-end before an altercation between Ibe and Olsson led to Ki inadvertently laying hands on the ref, for which he received a yellow card.
Leroy Fer could well have won the match for the Swans in the 83 minute, when he was able to beat Adam Smith with ease to go through on goal. His first shot was saved by Begovic, before firing wide on the rebound.
Tammy Abraham though he should have had a late penalty when he cut inside and seemed to have his feet clipped, but the ref was giving nothing away, and the match finished goalless.
