Emery challenges PSG to maintain form

‘I did my best to make things right with Atletico’ – Griezmann

Unai Emery says it is important to maintain a high level of performance as Paris Saint-Germain prepare to face Troyes on Wednesday.

PSG are the current Ligue 1 leaders, by nine points ahead of Olympique Lyonnais and Monaco, and are unbeaten in 20 matches in all competitions.

They come into this match at the Parc des Princes having recently beating Monaco 2-1, after thrashing Celtic 7-1 in the Champions League.

And ahead of facing 12th-placed Troyes, who beat Angers SCO 3-0 in their last game, Emery spoke of his desire for PSG to continue to play well and get results, while managing their fitness levels and rotating players.

He said, as reported by the club's official website: "The most important thing for us and for the team is to maintain a good level of competition in order to obtain the best possible performances.

"All the players feel good, and those who are playing less are ready to seize the opportunities when they come.

"We've been playing matches in quick succession of late and, after the match against Munich, we will have played four matches in the space of ten days.

"The players' physical condition is important; we have to spread the game time around to be able to perform to our best. Concerning the match against Troyes, we'll make our decisions after the training session."

On his side's season thus far, Emery added: "I'm very happy with how we have started the season. And I'm very happy to be able to work in the excellent atmosphere that Paris Saint-Germain offers.

"We have a lot of talent, but we also have a lot of ambition. My role is to make sure that everything goes well on the pitch, but the real protagonists are the players.

"We work a lot on tactics in order to ensure that the players get the best out of themselves on the pitch and that we produce the best football possible with the means at our disposal.

"We want to see the Parc packed to the rafters every time, of course. We will do all we can to win for them on Wednesday night."
