Malaga boss Michel Gonzalez slammed his side's performance as ‘unforgivable’ following their Copa del Rey exit at the hands of Segunda Division side Numancia.
Unai Elgezabal (53) cancelled out Adrian's (18) opener at the Estadio La Rosaleda on Tuesday night as the match ended 1-1.
But the draw wasn't enough to see Malaga progress to the last 16 in the competition after their 2-1 first leg loss.
Speaking after the game, an angry Gonzalez said: "We tried everything but couldn’t find the right finish.
“We looked for solutions but were run down in the end. Numancia had less chances than us [in the tie] but scored more goals.
“We’re nervous and tense, but tonight was the chance for many of our players to get on board.
“I don’t like being knocked out by a second-tier side. It’s an unforgivable situation for us."
When asked whether he would need to strengthen his side in the January transfer window, Gonzalez added: "Transfers in January? We’re evaluating a few things because we have only five defenders. If we can fix it before January, that would be good.
“We’re already talking and we’ll see if it can be resolved, but we can’t remind ourselves of the transfer market every time we lose.”
