Global Cebu’s Marjo Allado on facing Yangon United: “We came here to fight.”

Global Cebu FC are going to enemy territory on Wednesday against Group G leaders  Yangon United with their backs against the wall as they try to get their first win in the AFC Cup and revive their campaign by reaching to the next stage.

Talking to the media during the prematch presser on Tuesday afternoon, Coach Marjo Allado did not beat around the bush on how they will approach the game in Yangon.

“It’s a good match-up head-to-head tomorrow. We have good players that can make difference in the game. We are here to fight for the three points. If we win, we can step up for tomorrow.”

“We came here to fight. Our opponent is on the top and have the momentum. We are fighting for the huge three points,” added by the coach.

If Global’s kind history playing against teams from Myanmar is something of a motivation, in-form goalkeeper Patrick Deyto will be holding on to that at the back of his head in the hopes of getting a positive result.

“Yangon is number one in the group. We’re expecting a difficult game. It’s important for us to win the game to get us back in contention. Three points will be big for us,” told the stopper.

“The past two years, we played Yadanarbon and Magwe, and we won three games out of four. We have a good record against Myanmar teams, but we’re not expecting an easy game. We will give everything we have because that’s our motivation to win the game tomorrow.”

To compound the difficulty of the task at hand for the visitors though is Curt Dizon will be a notable absence for this fixture due to an arm fracture sustained during their 2-1 loss against JPV Marikina last Saturday.

The left midfielder was one of the bright spots during Global’s 1-1 home draw against Bali United last 27th of February, when he headed the ball from close-range off a rebound that initially put his team ahead.

Whoever will replace Curt will definitely have big shoes to fill.

Yangon United vs Global Cebu FC is scheduled to kick-off on Wednesday, 7 March 2018 at 5:00PM. Catch it live on FOX Sports 2
