Ceres Negros too strong for JPV Marikina

Ceres Negros notched their second win in as many games off a systemic and controlled display of dominating football en-route to a 3-0 win over JPV Marikina on Saturday evening at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Japanese striker Takumi Uesato haunted his former club scoring goals in the 14th and 31st minutes of the game.

Uesato’s devastating involvement in the match will be brief though as he was replaced by Patrick Reichelt in the 34th minute due to a possible injury.

Despite showing complete control of the match and threatening on a certain occasions, the two-goal remained until half-time with JPV’s clear chance coming in the added time of the first half but Uzoka’s header attempt went over the bar.

Come the second half it was all Ceres as The Busmen dictated the midfield and possession as JPV struggled to disrupt their opponent and create opportunities that would worry the Bacolod-based squad.

Come the 64th minute, all signs of a possible tension in the game between the teams were gone as Bienvenido Maranon tucks in his strike off a feed from O.J. Porteria.

Risto Vidakovic’s men then took control of possession as they coasted off to their second win, even having a few more chances to increase the lead save for some heroic goalkeeping by JPV’s Nelson Gasic.

Ceres Negros will next go against Global Cebu FC on 18 April in an away fixture between AFC Cup participants.

Meanwhile JPV Marikina again will be facing another tough proposition as they visit Davao Aguilas 21 April.
