Saturday’s Eredivisie round-up: VVV-Venlo win again

Colin Cowherd knows exactly how No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 12 Syracuse will end on Saturday

Newly-promoted VVV-Venlo picked up their second win of the 2017/18 Eredivisie season as ADO Den Haag sunk to the bottom of the table.

Vito van Crooij opened the scoring on 23 minutes at De Grolsch Veste for VVV in their 2-1 win away to FC Twente.

Jerold Promes made it two in the 41st minute while Twente's Tom Boere made a game of it when he reduced the score on the hour, but the away side held on for the win to take them second behind Vitesse at this early stage in the season.

Wilfried Kanon saw red for his part in a 29th minute penalty awarded to AZ in their 2-0 home win over ADO Den Haag.

Wout Weghorst stepped up to the spot and made no mistake in front of his home support at the AFAS Stadion, who also cheered a 70th minute second goal from Guus Til.

Nemanja Mihajlovic, meanwhile, scored an injury time equaliser for Heerenveen to secure a 1-1 draw with Heracles at the Abe Lenstra Stadion.

It was certainly a fitting way to end the game as Robin Propper had opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time.
