Sparta produce spirited fightback

Huge crash as Ryan Newman injured in fiery smash at Daytona 500

Sparta Rotterdam fought from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw away to NAC Breda at Rat Verlegh Stadion on Friday night.

Pablo Mari opened the scoring on 42 minutes while Rai Vloet doubled the hosts' lead shortly after the break.

But Ragnar Ache netted a second-half brace, with goals in the 70th and 84th minutes to bag a share of the spoils.

Mari was first with an effort for NAC with a header from an Angelino cross that flew wide.

There were a couple of chances apiece on the 20 minute mark as Angelino saw his shot well saved by Roy Kortsmit before Craig Goodwin's shot at the other end, after picking up a pass from Robert Muhren, was blocked.

Vloet forced another good save from the visiting goalkeeper before the home side began to edge the tie towards the end of the first half, as Michel Breuer's header flew past the top right corner of the net, before Sherel Floranus skewed his effort.

Mari had a good header saved in the 42nd minute, after some bright work from NAC, and he then capatalised while making no mistake from a free-kick moments later, to bury his shot in the top-left corner of the net.

NAC were two goals ahead with just six second half minutes played as Vloet got on the end of an Angelino delivery.

Muhren was off target on the hour as Loris Brogno saw his 69th minute saved, leaving Ache to pounce on his opportunity moments later, with a firm header, from a Michel Breuer centre following a corner.

Thierry Ambrose had an 80th minute shot saved before firing off target ahead of a saved header from Menno Koch.

But Agnar made sure of a point when he slammed home from the edge of the six-yard area as a Muhren headed pass dropped to his feet.

There was a chance for Brogno to win it late on, as Ache played provider, but he fired wide, before Manu Garcia astonishingly hit the left upright for NAC, as his moment of glory escaped him.
