Groningen have signed Dutch-born South African striker Lars Veldwijk from Belgian side KV Kortrijk.
The 25-yeer-old former FC Volendam, FC Utrecht, Excelsior and Nottingham Forest frontman, who has also spent time on loan with FC Dordrecht and PEC Zwolle, will join up with his new team at the completion of his current loan spell, with Norwegian Tippeligaen side Aalesund.
He has signed a three-year deal with Groningen.
Speaking to the club's official website, Veldwijk revealed his delight at joining the Pride of the North.
He said: "I'm happy and proud to sign for three seasons here. The choice for Groningen is a feeling issue. I would like to go back to the Netherlands, partly because of family and football in the Netherlands. Groningen is not home at this moment, but hopefully, it will come soon."
Veldwijk has played just once for South Africa, after being persuaded to play for the country of his father's birth. He featured in the 1-1 friendly draw against Mozambique in November 2016.
