Parma has ruled out any possibilities of signing Italian international Mario Balotelli because they cannot afford his salary.
Parma sporting director Daniele Faggiano admitted that they would love to have the services of Balotelli at their club, but simply cannot afford him.
Balotelli is out of contract at the end of June at Nice and has been linked with a return to the Serie A.
The Italian has been able to revive his career in the League 1 and has also found his way back into the Azzurri squad.
He scored the first goal in the 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia in the recent friendly match, making a return for Italy after a four-year absence.
Faggiano told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli:”We want to stay up by putting together a good team.
“We are on good terms with Napoli, we will talk to them and see if it’s possible to keep [Amato] Ciciretti, [Armando] Anastasio and [Roberto] Insigne.
“We know very well the message we have to send, we have come from Serie D and it wasn’t easy. We will see what we can do for Insigne, and as for Balotelli he is a top player and could even end up at Napoli.
“He is a player whose quality is not up for discussion, but he has a high salary and we can’t afford him.”
