German striker Timo Werner has made quite an impact for his club RB Leipzig at the Bundesliga, and it now seems like all his efforts have paid off – from what has been heard of his links with a few top European clubs.

Ronan Murphy of Goal, reports that Bundesliga defending champions Bayern Munich have joined the race to sign the star, with Premier League club Liverpool being the other team touted to try and do the same this summer.

As per Murphy’s statement, Oliver Mintzlaff the CEO of Werner’s current employers Leipzig, said that the star will not sign a new contract.

“We want to extend it with him, but he signaled that he would rather not extend it.” Mintzlaff was quoted by Murphy as spoken to Sky Sports Germany.

Werner has scored 14 Bundesliga goals this season for Leipzig, and is also one of the top-scorers in the German league this season. He joined the side from VfB Stuttgart in 2016-17 for a fee of €14million, and has never ceased fo impress since.

FOX Sports Asia probability ratings: 4/5; While it certain that Werner will leave Leipzig at the end of this season, it is his destination that remains unclear. Chances are that he might sign with Bayern Munich, as they are on the lookout for a successor to Robert Lewandowski. Liverpool does not have an out-and-out forward right now, but mamager Jurgen Klopp is expected to comtinue playing Roberto Firmino at that position, while looking for replacements in other key areas of his squad.
