McIlroy takes six to escape bunker

‘I was able to clean up the card’ says Woods after shooting a 5-under 67 in the BMW championship third round

Rory McIlroy ran into a spot of bother during a practice round ahead of this week’s Open Championship.

The Northern Irishman teed off on the infamous par three Postage Stamp on Tuesday and found the greenside crater bunker.

McIlroy then proceeded to take no less than six shots to get out the hellish bunker, much to the amusement of playing partners Andy Sullivan and Matthew Southgate.

Thankfully, Sky Sports was there to capture the thrilling adventure. The action starts at the 5:30 mark…

You can be sure he didn’t really feel like a former Champion Golfer of the Year after that…
