‘That’s golf’ says McDowell after first day of The Open

This week’s LPGA action will be taking place in Canada where the Whistle Bear Golf Club in Ontario will host the Manulife LPGA Classic from June 8-11.

The field for the event has four of the top-six LPGA-ranked players taking part, namely: World number two Ariya Jutanugarn of Thailand, Korea Republic's world No.5 In Gee Chun, No.6 Shanshan Feng of China and American world No.4 Lexi Thompson.

Also in the field are three former champions including defending champion Caroline Masson, 2015 winner Suzann Pettersen and 2012 champion Brittany Langeek.

The prize money up for grabs is $1,700,000 with the winner getting $255,000.

Every past champion in the tournament has won by all carding all four rounds in the 60s.

Last year’s winner Germanys Masson came from three shots behind the leaders going into the final day to defeat Karine Icher, Minjee Lee and Mi Hyang Lee by one stroke after firing a final round 6 under 67 for a victory total of 16-under-par.
