Rays beat Blue Jays, Indians win again

AL Central-leading Cleveland overcame the Miami Marlins 6-2 for their fourth straight win, Carlos Carrasco striking out 11 and allowing six hits for the Indians.

Texas won the battle of the AL West’s top two teams, seeing off Houston 10-8. Rougned Odor connected for the third consecutive game to help the Rangers stretch their advantage over the second-placed Astros to 9 1/2 games.

Mark Trumbo belted his major league-leading 41st homer as the Baltimore Orioles stormed past the New York Yankees 8-0.

Washington posted their fourth straight win, overcoming the New York Mets 4-1 to extend their lead atop the National League East to 10 1/2 games. AJ Cole threw six strong innings and Bryce Harper hit two doubles for the Nationals.

David Ross and Dexter Fowler had third-inning RBI hits as the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs extended their winning streak to five games with a 2-1 triumph over the San Francisco Giants.

Eugenio Suarez delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Cincinnati Reds snapped a four-game skid by rallying for a 3-2 triumph over the St Louis Cardinals.

The NL West-leading Los Angeles Dodgers were beaten 4-2 by the San Diego Padres, the Boston Red Sox hammered the Oakland Athletics 16-2, and the Seattle Mariners defeated the Los Angeles Angels 11-8.

In other games, the Colorado Rockies enjoyed a 14-7 success against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Detroit Tigers pipped the Kansas City Royals 7-6, the Atlanta Braves defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 8-4, the Chicago White Sox were 11-4 winners against the Minnesota Twins, and the Milwaukee Brewers edged Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0.
