Lorenzo hails important win

Jorge Lorenzo put himself in the lead of 2016 MotoGP rider's championship with a flawless victory at Le Mans on Sunday.

The Spaniard controlled the race from the front, taking advantage of his good start from pole position.

Lorenzo's second win of the season puts him on 90 points, five points ahead of Marc Marquez, who crashed with Andrea Dovizioso on lap 16, but recovered to finish.

"The race has been so long, never end!" quipped the Movistar Yamaha rider after the race.

"I want to keep my pace and not to lose concentration, that's why I didn't close the throttle. That's why when Marquez and Dovi crash I knew I could breathe a little bit.

"A very important race, I knew I could win and now I recover more than 20 points. It's a great race for the championship."
