Following a harrowing crash on Friday at Motegi in Japan, Dani Pedrosa fractured his right collarbone.
The Honda rider – who is the defending champion around the Japanese circuit – was thrown from his bike during the exit of a 90 degree corner during FP2 and landed heavily.
It is unclear if the Spaniard will risk returning for any of the remaining three rounds in Australia, Malaysia and Valencia with his injury. Pedrosa is currently fourth in the riders’ standings.
In the past, riders have returned to the track just days after collarbone surgery, but we will have to wait and see if Pedrosa chances it.
Meanwhile, Eugene Laverty also suffered a crash on Friday and was airlifted via helicopter to Utsunomiya Hospital for a precautionary cranial CT scan.
