In the women’s synchronized 10 meter platform diving competition at the Rio Olympics, the Malaysian pairing of Cheong Jun Hoong and Pandelela Rinong were quite magnificent as they claimed silver in a tightly contested event.
Rinong and Jun Hoong were consistent throughout the day as they churned out scores of 52.80, 52.80, 76.50, 79.68 and 82.56 for a total of 344.34 points.
That was good enough for silver as they finished ahead of the Canadian pairing of Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion who produced scores of 52.80, 52.80, 74.70, 75.24 and 80.64 for a total of 336.18 points.
The Chinese duo of Chen Ruolin Liu Huixia won gold. They were deserving victors as their synchronization and timing was quite clearly a cut above the rest throughout the day’s action.
They returned scores of 55.80, 55.80, 79.20, 75.84 and 87.36 for a total of 354.00 points.
This silver medal is Malaysia’s first at the 2016 Olympic Games.
