Lester Prosper is set to fly over in Asia, albeit for a different reason than most would expect.
The former Columbian Dyip import is said to represent the Indonesian national team as they prepare for the upcoming SEA Games which will start in December.
Denzel Bowles was initially tapped as their reinforcement in the said tournament. However, a report from the Indonesian website detik.com indicated that the Perbasi sent him home due to his inability to adapt quickly to the national team.
Pressed for time to look for a suitable import, the Perbasi has decided to bring over Lester Prosper, who’s had strong campaigns in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup and in the Terrific 12 tournament.
The hulking reinforcement was one of the leading candidates for the league’s Best Import during the Commissioner’s Cup with 55.7 statistical points playing for the Columbian Dyip.
In the Terrific 12, Prosper was their man in the middle with June Mar Fajardo recuperating from an ankle injury. He averaged 14.0 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game and he helped San Miguel reach to as far as the semis.
With a new opportunity on the horizon, Prosper bares his excitement especially since he’ll get to play against Gilas Pilipinas in the SEA Games.
“I’m all about bringing a positive attitude in every situation. I know that the guys from Indonesia can shoot and they have great attitudes so I’m excited,” said Prosper in an exclusive interview with FOX Sports Philippines.
“I think it’ll be pretty cool [facing Gilas] because most of those guys over there are cool and competitive, and for sure it’ll be super entertaining and interesting,” he added.
