Bartoli ‘fears for her life’

Former Wimbledon singles champion Marion Bartoli says she fears for her life after contracting an unknown virus and suffering drastic weight loss.

The 31-year-old Frenchwomen was stopped by doctors from taking part in a Wimbledon invitational event over fears for her health.

The 2013 Wimbledon champions said she is not anorexic but is suffering from a very rare virus that doctors don't have a name for.

On Monday, she will be going to a clinic for treatment after losing 20kgs.

"This is not life. I am just surviving," said Bartoli in an interview with ITV's This Morning.

"I fear for my life. I worry that one day my heart will stop.

"My life is a living nightmare. I don't wish this on anyone but it is gradually getting worse."

Bartoli thinks she may have picked up the virus when flying between Australia, New York and India in January and February.
