Karolina Pliskova defeated second seed Angelique Kerber to win the Western & Southern Open on Sunday.
The Czech eased past the Australian Open champion 6-3, 6-1 in a touch over an hour on the hard courts of Cincinnati.
Pliskova got off to a flyer, using her power game to race off to a four game lead. While Kerber would break back after four break points, it was too little too late from the German as Pliskova took the set.
It was more of the same in the second set, with the 15th seed earning an early break to go 3-0 up.
Unforced errors cost Kerber, as Pliskova continued to pile on the points and the pressure. A final break at 5-1 would all but seal the win for Pliskova, who earned her sixth WTA title.

The win caps off a superb week for the world number 17, as she dropped just one set on her way to the title. The victory also denied Kerber from taking over the world number one spot from Serena Williams.
