‘Crocked’ Coric could miss rest of 2016 season

Kvitova, Azarenka and Bencic through in Stuttgart

Croatia's Borna Coric could be out of tennis for the rest of the 2016 season due to knee surgery, according to former player Filip Dewulf.

The 44-year-old Dewulf, who won two career singles titles prior to retiring in 2001, tweeted – “Hearing that Borna Coric will not be playing European Open in Antwerp because he will be having surgery on his knee. #tennis”

Coric, who is currently ranked 42nd in the world, has been suffering from knee problems for some time and was forced to stop training after this year’s US Open due to discomfort.

The 19-year-old has not confirmed if he is to undergo surgery yet but if it is the case he will in all likelihood miss the rest of the 2016 season.
