Top seed Novak Djokovic just managed to get a service game under his belt in his opener against Vasek Pospisil before the heavens opened.
In the women's draw, second seed simona Halep was also in action. The Romanian was 2-1 down but on serve when the deluge fell from the sky, ending all play for the rest of the day.
All matches affected will be completed on Wednesday.
