Treat Huey is into the semi-finals of the men’s doubles at Wimbledon, the first Filipino to reach the last four at a grand slam.
Huey and his partner, Max Mirnyi of Belarus, wasted little time in downing Jonathan Marray of Great Britain and Adil Shamasdin of Canada, 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-3 on Wednesday.
The victory sees the 12th seeds set up a last-four showdown against the number one seeds, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut of France.
It is the first time that Huey has progressed to the semi-finals of a grand slam in the men’s doubles, having previously come up short in the quarter-finals at the Australian Open (twice) and at the US Open. However, he has featured in the semi-finals of the mixed doubles competition, a feat he achieved with Andreja Klepac at this year’s Australian Open.

Mirnyi is no stranger to success in the game’s biggest events, with an impressive 10 grand slam doubles titles to his name.
