Hoeness back at Bayern

F1 British Grand Prix – Valtteri Bottas pole position lap

Hoeness is currently serving a three-and-a-half-year jail term after being found guilty of tax evasion.

Seven months into that sentence, he has been granted day release with Bayern offering him a role in their youth academy.

He will now spend his days at the club’s training ground in Munich before returning to jail every night.

Monday was also Hoeness’ 63rd birthday and he will be permitted to spend the afternoon with his family before returning behind bars in the evening, according to Germany’s Bild newspaper.

Should he show good conduct in the coming months, he may be released from prison only one year into his jail term next July.
