Berahino: No explanation needed

UFC: Michelle Waterson looking to remain focused with doubts remaining over main event clash with Joanna Jedrzejczyk

Berahino hit four in Albion’s 7-0 FA Cup third-round thrashing of Gateshead – Tony Pulis’s first game in charge – but was subdued at the final whistle, as well as after hitting the target.

The England U21 international has been linked with Liverpool and Tottenham but says he is ignoring January transfer talk.

“I was just handling business and acting professionally and that’s it,” the 13-goal striker said.

“There’s no need for me to explain myself on not celebrating goals.

“It is what it is. I was just acting professionally and I didn’t celebrate and??that was it.

“I just have to do what I do on the pitch.

“I’m a West Bromwich Albion player and I’ve just got to perform for them and??try to get as many goals as I can and contribute to wins.

“It’s not really difficult because I just ignore the stories and I don’t??really read anything into it.”

Pulis, speaking after Saturday’s victory against the non-league side, insisted he??can handle a player whose temperament has been previously called into question.

“I have dealt with a lot of players who were different in lots of respects,”??said Pulis.

“I have had players turn up late and had players not turn up at??times. I have had players do things that would make your hair curl. But I have??dealt with it and that is what management is about.

“I have signed players who have had massive problems off the pitch and worked with them and got the best out of them.

“We are all different.”
