Las Palmas secured a 2-0 victory at home over Real Sociedad to move out of the relegation zone in La Liga on Friday night.
Some smart interplay led to the first goal in the 28th minute when David Simon lofted a cross into the box and Jose Vicente Gomez headed the ball to Jonathan Viera, who volleyed it into the back of the net.
Viera flashed another effort over the bar after cutting in from the left, while Asier Illarramendi nearly converted at the other end shortly before the break after latching onto a pass inside the box.
Las Palmas doubled their lead six minutes after the break when Roque Mesa fed Sergio Araujo with a lofted pass, allowing the striker to find the goal with a left-footed strike that beat a defender and goalkeeper Gerónimo Rulli.
Sociedad tried to get back in the game but were struggling to crack the defence, instead relying on speculative efforts from too far out.
Sergio Canales did nearly pull one back in the dying minutes, but his powerful strike hit the crossbar and bounced clear as under-fire Sociedad managed David Moyes slipped to another defeat.
