The Singapore Slammers beat the Indian Aces 26-21 to win the second edition of the International Premier League Tennis (IPTL) at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Sunday.
The Slammers took an early two-point lead when Carlos Moya beat Fabrice Santoro 6-4 in the men’s legend’s singles.
Then in the women's singles; Belinda Bencic of the Slammers beat Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-4 to extend her team's lead.
The Indian Aces came back when Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna combined to beat Dustin Borwn and Karolina Pliskova 6-2 in the mixed doubles to take a 15-14 lead.
The Slammers regained the lead when Stan Wawrinka beat Bernard Tomic 6-3 in the men’s singles.
They lead by two points going into the men's doubles, the final set of the match, and Wawrinka and Marcelo Melo beat Bopanna and Ivan Dodig 6-3.
That final victory saw Singapore win the match 26-21 to finish at the top of the standings and claim $1 million in prize money.
