Best goals of the 2015 AFC Champions League

Room for Improvement: Former Champions Kashima & Guangzhou must step up

As part of our build-up for this weekend's first leg of the AFC Champions League final between United Arab Emirates side Al Ahli and Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande we've taken a look back at some of the best goals thus far.

In the 141 matches that were played in this season's competition, 391 goals were scored.

Guangzhou's Brazilian striker Ricardo Goulart is the leading scorer in this year's competition with eight strikes, while Al Ahli's Ahmed Khalil is a in a tie for second place with six.

Here are a few compilations showcasing some of the best goals of the competition this year:

Top goals – Group stage

Top goals – Round of 16

Top goals – Quarter-finals

This season's tournament also had its fair share of controversy, with the penalty awarded to Al Hilal during the semi-final against Al Ahli arguably the pick of the bunch.

Al Ahli's Salmin Khamis picks up the ball thinking it had fully crossed the edge of the pitch, and the referee quickly noted the infraction and awarded Al Hilal a penalty.

Considering the tie first leg tie ended 1-1 with Al Ahli scoring a vital away goal, the spot kick may have been a pivotal moment in the match.

However, Al Hilal's Carlos Eduardo smashed his penalty off the post as Al Ahli escaped punishment for Khamis' bizarre error.
