Big-serving Ivo Karlovic crashed out of the first round of the Auckland Open when he was beaten by unseeded Canadian Vasek Pospisil on Monday.
Pospisil won in straight sets in one hour and 32 minutes beating the seventh seed 7-6(4) 7-5.
The only break of serve coming in the 11th game of the second set, which put the Canadian 6-5 up. He held serve to win the set and match 7-5.
In other first round matches, America's Jack Sock had few problems when beating Victor Estrella of the Dominican Republic) 6-0, 6-4 and Matthew Barton of Australia took three sets to get past Steve Johnson of America 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in a match lasting one hour and 40 minutes.
Thiemo de Bakker of the Netherlands beat Spain's Albert Ramos 6-3, 6-4 while Robin Haase, also from the Netherlands, cruised past Pablo Andujar of Spain 6-4, 6-1.
American Donald Young has little trouble in getting past Finn Tearney of New Zealand 6-2, 6-3.
