Smith: Exciting times for Australian cricket

UFC Nashville: Anthony Pettis post-fight interview

Australia captain Steve Smith has confirmed that seamers Scott Boland and Joel Paris will both make their international debuts in the first ODI against India in Perth on Tuesday.

With the retirement of Mitchell Johnson and the injury to Mitchell Starc, the world champions have been forced to go deep into their pace bowling stocks for the ODI series against the Asian side.

The Aussie skipper said it was a good opportunity for the young fast bowlers to make their mark in international cricket, especially as they will play on the faster pitches in Australia, at the WACA and the Gabba, in the first two games.

Smith told reporters in Perth: “We’ve got a pretty young, inexperienced bowling attack but they’ve all been bowling pretty well and I think it’s a really exciting time for Australian cricket to see these young guys coming through and getting an opportunity.

“And I’m sure they’re going to relish the opportunity to bowl on places like here and at the Gabba in a couple of days time.”

The second ODI of the five-match series is scheduled to take place in Brisbane on Friday.
