Formula E wins top award

Formula E has become the first motor racing championship promoter to be awarded with the top award in the FIA Institute's Sustainability programme, the Achievement of Excellence.

The Institute awarded Formula E the highest level of accreditation following a recent audit of the series' environmental management system (EMS).

The FIA ascertained that the series had demonstrated commitment to sustainability and had attained a high level of environmental performance, including various clear targets for improving further in future.

The fact that Formula E's commitment to be the first fully-electric motorsport series from its senior management as well as all parties responsible for managing the EMS particularly impressed the institute.

"I'm delighted that Formula E has become the first championship promoter to be awarded 'Achievement of Excellence' in the FIA Institute's Sustainability programme. This is fully in keeping with our aims and commitment to promoting sustainable mobility, which can be seen by electric racing taking place in some of the world's leading cities," said Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E.

Garry Connelly, Deputy President of the FIA Institute, said: "I would like to congratulate Formula E on their excellent work in this area. I was particularly impressed by the clear commitment of the senior Formula E management towards environmental issues, which was evident throughout the accreditation application process."
