Pochettino not focusing on unbeaten run

Aston Villa vs Derby County – Who will win Championship Play-Off and promotion to Premier League?

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is attaching little importance to the club's unbeaten run, choosing instead to focus on the games ahead.

Spurs have not lost in the Premier League since their opening-day defeat to Manchester United and extend the streak to 10 games with a 3-1 win over Aston Villa on Monday night.

However, Pochettino played down the significance of what has already happened, saying keeping focused and being prepared for the next game is what is most important.

"It [unbeaten league run] is not important," Pochettino told Sky Sports. "The next game is important and we need to keep our focus and win the next game. Our start is good but that's nothing."

Midfielder Dele Alli picked up the man-of-the-match award after scoring Tottenham's second goal and, while impressed with his performance, Pochettino stressed the importance of keeping the 19-year-old's feet on the ground.

"We need to provide him with the tools to improve his game. He is still young and I always say young players need to keep their feet on the ground. This is very important," he added.

"When you have quality like he does you have to push him and try to improve his game. But I'm very pleased with him and the whole team," the Argentine concluded.
