Chelsea have allegedly secured the signing of Ajax Amsterdam prodigy Juan Familia Castillo, scuppering the efforts of Manchester United.

The 16-year-old midfielder is the captain of the Netherlands under-16 side, and was on the verge of moving to Old Trafford until the Blues made an improved offer to the Eredivisie side, according to the Daily Mail.

Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink’s influence is also claimed to have been a deciding factor in convincing the youngster to choose London over Manchester, despite the short-term nature of the Dutchman’s contract at the club.

Chelsea currently have two Dutch players out on loan, Nathan Ake at Watford and Marco van Ginkel at Stoke City, while their partnership arrangement with Eredivisie side Vitesse could potentially allow the player to remain in the Netherlands over the coming years.
