Bayern München defender Medhi Benatia has insisted that his side are not concerned about having to face Juventus in the round of 16 of the Champions League.
The reigning Serie A champions struggled early on in the season as they won just one of their first six league matches. However, since their most recent loss to Sassuolo on October 28, Juventus have gone on a 10-match winning streak and have shot up to second place on the Serie A standings, where they now trail leaders Napoli by just two points.
In regards to their Champions League form, Juventus have been less convincing as they won three matches, drew two and lost one in the group stages.
However, Benatia has refused to be intimidated by Juventus’ recent form as Bayern have enjoyed a lot of success themselves as they have only lost one of their 17 Bundesliga matches to date.
The reigning Bundesliga champions have been just as dominant in the Champions League as they won five of their group stage matches and only lost one, which came against Arsenal on October 20.
"We're not afraid of Juventus", Benatia told reporters. "It is true; it will be a tough challenge – very difficult indeed.
"We respect Juventus, the Bianconeri can be frightening – especially at home – but we do not fear them."
Meanwhile, Benatia, who joined Bayern from Roma on a five-year deal worth €26 million in 2014, has been linked with a move back to Serie A, but the 28-year-old continues to remain coy about his future.
"In football, anything can happen," he said.
