Manager Diego Simeone believes Atletico Madrid are in a "good situation" when it comes to squad rotation as a lot of fringe players are putting their hands up in the Copa del Rey.
Atletico will take on Celta Viga in the first leg of their quarter-final at Balaidos on Thursday and Simeone is once again expected to make quite a few changes to his team.
Several first-team players have been given a breather in the earlier rounds of the tournament, but that hasn't made much of a difference as those who have come in have produced excellent performances.
Although Simeone expects a "complex tie" against Celta, he is happy to continue with the approach that has worked so far for his team.
"A squad is valued when the guys who do not start the matches resolve good situations for the group. When you have this, there is talk of a good squad," he is quoted as saying by FourFourTwo.
"We can have a lot of internal competition, with players that take advantage of their minutes. That is happening and puts us in a good situation.
"The secret is not to think about it [qualifying]. I focus only on approaching the game as if it were the last. Cup ties are always complex, especially against teams like Celta.
"We focus on ourselves. I imagine a similar game – we do not change from one match to another. They may have variations. The other day they played with [Iago] Aspas on the right."
