Roma have announced the termination of defender Ashley Cole’s contract after a disappointing year-and-a-half spell at the Stadio Olimpico.
The ex-England international joined the club in July 2014, but has struggled for regular football under former coach Rudi Garcia, having managed just 16 appearances in all competition for the Giallorossi.
Cole’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season, but he has now agreed to an early termination of his deal.
A statement released on the club’s website read: “AS Roma can today confirm that Ashley Cole’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent.
“The club would like to thank Cole for his commitment during his stay in Rome and wish him the very best for his future career.”
Cole is now reportedly set to join former Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard at Los Angeles Galaxy in the MLS.
