Malaysian superstar Lee Chong Wei advanced to the third round of the Victor Far East Malaysia Masters on Wednesday.
The former world number one defeated Fikiri Ihsandi Hadmadi 21-14, 21-15 in 33 minutes on the courts of the Stadium Spice in Penang.
The Indonesian would hold a slender 8-6 lead over Chong Wei in the opening game, but he tied things up at nine-all before running away with the game.
Ching Wei turned on the class in the second game to earn a comfortable victory.
The 33-year-old then made easy work of Thailand’s Kantawat Leelavechabutr in the second round, easing past him 21-16, 21-15.
Chong Wei will face the unseeded Zi Liang Derek Wong of Indonesia in the third round on Thursday.
Second seed Kidambi Srikanth eased past Wei Feng Chong and Cristie Jonathan in quick succession to book a third round clash with 16th seed Boonsack Ponsana.
Meanwhile, third seed Tommy Sugiarto defeated fellow Indonesian Wibowo Setyaldi Putra 21-18, 21-11 in the opening round before edging B. Sai Praneeth 21-14, 10-21, 21-18 in the second round.
Iskandar Kulkarnain Zainuddin knocked out fourth seed Son Wan Ho 21-5, 21-14 in the opening round and went on the defeat Ginting Anthony 21-18, 21-13 as well.
In other second round results, seventh seed Wei Nan survived a second game comeback from Giap Chin Goh to win 21-18, 13-21, 21-19 while eighth seed NG Ka Long Angus beat Song Dwi Kuncoro 21-16, 21-16.
