Kidambi through to semis in India

Dominant Sindhu and Momota cruise into final

Kidambi Srikanth reached the final four of the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships on Friday.

The top seed survived a second game comeback from Soon Huat Goh to win 21-17, 18-21, 24-22 in a tight contest on the courts of the BBD U.P. Badminton Academy in Lucknow, India.

Kidambi kept Goh at arm’s length in the opening game,  but the Malaysian made an impressive comeback in the second game.

Trailing 18-10, Goh rallied to win an incredible eleven consecutive points to force a decider.

There was little to choose between the two shuttles in the final game, though a three point run from the local hero proved to be the difference between the two.

The win books Kidambi a place in the semi-finals against Boonsak Ponsana. The Thai native defeated Zulfadli Zulkiffli 21-17, 21-19 to book his place in the final four.

The other semi-final on Saturday is an all-Chinese affair, with Yuqi Shi taking on Yuxiang Huang.
