Bautista Agut claims inaugural Sofia crown

Roberto Bautista Agut continued his ruthless run of form at the Garanti Koza Sofia Open as he disposed of Viktor Troicki 6-3, 6-4 in the final to win the tournament.

The Spaniard did not lose a set in three of his matches this past week.

Bautista Agut secured the lone break of the first set in the eighth game before going on to win it 6-3 in 33 minutes.

In the second stanza, Bautista Agut looked to run away with the match after grabbing an early break, but Troicki responded well with a break back. However, the Serb could not continue that level of play as the eventual champion converted another break for a 2-1 lead and then held his nerve to the finish line. He triumphed on his second match point.

“It is always special to win a title,” Bautista Agut said after his victory.

“I have to be happy about this start to the season, the way I play. I am enjoying to be on the court. I just can’t be happier.”
