After struggling at the Chang International Circuit last season, Michael van der Mark is hoping to turn his fortunes around at this weekend’s race in Thailand.
Last time out in Thailand, Van der Mark was forced to retire in the first race before finishing seventh in the second. However, the 23-year-old started the 2016 season with two podium finishes at Phillip Island, and he’s aiming to maintain this momentum heading into the second round of racing.
“I can’t wait to be on track again, Phillip Island was an incredible start to the season,” he told reporters. “We know this round will be completely different for us, as there won’t be any test before the race weekend.
“Last year things didn’t go too well for us [retired from race one, seventh in race two] but with the data we have now and the improvements made during the winter to our CBR1000RR, things will surely be better for us.”
