Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan says it took a lot of character for the team to come from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Inter on Saturday.
The Scudetto hopefuls, currently in third place in Serie A seven points behind leaders Juventus, found themselves a goal behind in the but Nainggolan grabbed an equaliser in the 84th minute to earn his side a valuable point.
“We had to come from a goal down and we did that, showing we’re in fine fettle,” he said after the match. “The fact we got ourselves back into the game and could have won it shows we have the right attitude. We’re working hard and getting the results we deserve.”
“Inter are very good defensively and they’ve won lots of games 1-0. They scored from their first chance and we knew it was going to be tough after that.
“We had three good opportunities but weren’t able to make the most of them and in the end, it was a half chance we managed to score from. It’s a big result for us.”
The 27-year-old is traditionally played in a central midfield position, but was pushed further up the pitch against Inter while Roma were chasing the game and says he is happy to fill whatever role is required of him to help the side.
“I like playing in central midfield but I enjoy playing in the hole too. I think my best attributes are winning the ball back and starting moves. No matter where I play I always try to give my all for the team,” he concluded.
