The appointment of the new Springbok rugby coach has reportedly been delayed and will now only be made in next week.

According to reports in the South African media, Allister Coetzee is set to take over the coaching reins from Heyneke Meyer. Coetzee, who currently coaches Japan’s Kobe Steelers is, however, trying to convince the South African Rugby Union to allow him to select his management team.

It is understood that Coetzee is negotiating to have Robbie Fleck and Matt Proudfoot to be part of his backroom staff. The duo were also Coetzee assistants during his stint as the Stormers' head coach.

SARU were initially going to name the new Springbok coach following their Annual General Meeting which will be held on Friday, April 1.

Other matters of urgencyon the AGM's agenda reportedly include a discussion about the events leading to the provisional liquidation of the Kings,  the absence of a sponsor for the Currie Cup and the ongoing battle between SA Rugby president Oregan Hoskins and CEO Jurie Roux.

Rox faces charges related to the alleged misappropriation of funds at Stellenbosch University.
