FC Twente are back in the headlines just as they thought they had been let off the hook by FIFA.
The Eredivise outfit came under severe scrutiny this season after breaching financial fair play rules, ownership issues and a substantial amount of debt due to mismanagement.
With news that FIFA fined them €170,000 instead of a transfer ban or expulsion from the league, the Tukkers assumed the worst was over – they now face an investigation in the form of third-party ownership involving their former winger Dusan Tadic.
According to Dutch publication De Telegraaf, the KNVB could impose a further fine, or even slap a points deduction on the club for breaking third-party rules.
“A deduction of three points is probable,” the newspaper claimed.
